“Union Hall 25 December 1857

According to notice given a number of the inhabitants of West River met this evening at Union Hall West River for the purpose of taking into consideration the propriety of forming a company for opening a coal mine at Middle River or any other convenient place.

                                    Being called to the chair and Daniel McLeod appointed Clerk for the time being.
It was proposed by John McKenzie and seconded by Robert McLean and resolved that a company be formed to open a coal min at the Middle River or any other convenient place.”

 

Right side includes a monetary list, seemingly unrelated to the Middle River Mine
