“ Know all men by these presents that I William Fraser of the West River in the County of Pictou, Farmer, am held and firmly bound unto Alexander Graham of Westville in the County of Pictou, merchant, in the sum of twenty hundred dollars lawful money of the Dominion of Canada to be paid to the said Alexander Graham or his certain Attorney his Executors Administrators or Assigns for which payment to be will and truly made I bind myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents signed and sealed this _____ day of ____ in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four.
The condition of this obligation is such that if the above boundent William Fraser or his Heirs, executors, administrators or assigns do and shall well an truly ay or cause to be paid, unto the said Alexander Graham, his executors, administrators or assigns the full and just sum of ten hundred dollars of lawful money of the Dominion of Canada, in five years from the day of the date hereof with the interest to grow due thereon from the day of the date hereof t and after the date of _______ by the year until the whole payment of principle and interest moneyes above mentioned without fraud or further delay [from?] the above obligation to be void otherwise to continue in [fulforse?] and virtue.

Letter on bottom:
The first part are survey notes near Limerock and Gairloch. The letter below it is as follows:
“Rev. Dear Sir,
Mr. Simon Fraser of West River [after?] to me on Saturday last for a certificate of Church Membership and insisted strongly that I should and might give it on my own acquaintance with his correction as a church member which I refused to do not that I [back?] any thing against his [caraction?] But I promised to write to you so this you might consult the session before giving it They all know the man has work as I do.”
