Description
Drawing and caption about the Earl Grey steamer which connected Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia during the winter, from the February 20, 1909 edition of the Pictou Advocate. It was launched in June 1909 by Vickers Sons and Maxim, and was designed to work better in winter conditions than previous ships the Minto and the Stanley, which were provided to fulfill the federal government's promise of continous mainland connections for P.E.I. residents as a Confederation promise.
