This indenture made this Eighth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety.

Between John Hausford of Pictou in the County of Pictou and Province of Nova Scotia, Gardiner, of the one part: and Mary Coombes of Bath in the State of Maine in the United States. Married woman the wife of Bill Coombes of the other or second part:

Witnesseth that the said John Hausford for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred Dollars lawful money of Canada to him in hand well and truly paid by Mary Coombs aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged; Hath granted, bargained, sold, conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto the said Mary Coombs her, heirs and assigns: the following articles of personal property to with:

One (1) Cow

Two (2) Calves

And all the household furniture consisting of stones, tables, chairs, dishes, bedsheets, beds, bedding, carpets, curtains to :

Now in the house occupied by the said John Hausford in the Town of Pictou known as the parsonage of the late Reverend Charles Elliot.

To have and to hold the said described Article to her the said Mary Coombes her heirs and assigns forever.

Nevertheless Provided and it is the full intent and meaning hereof that of the said John Hausford his heirs or assigns shall pay or cause to be paid to the said Mary Coombes the aforesaid principal sum of one hundred dollars with interest on the same at six percent per annual within three years from date, then these presents and every matter and thing connected herewith shall be null and bold; otherwise to remain in full force virtue and effect.

I John Hausford of Pictou in the County of Pictou Gardiner make oath and say as follows:

I am the Grantor mentioned in the accompanying chattel mortgage.

The amount set forth therein as being the consideration thereof is justly and honestly due and owing by the grantor to the grantee and the chattel mortgage was executed in good faith, and not for the purpose of protecting the property mentioned therein against the creditors of the grantor or of preventing the creditors of such mortgages from obtaining payment of any claims against him.
