Charles C MacKenzie (1847-1935) born at The Pines, Lyons Brook to Hugh and Ann MacKenzie. Charles lived at the family home most of his life, except for a few years spent in New England and California. He was well known as an artist, mural painter and interior decorator, his work adorned many churches, halls and public spaces throughout the Maritimes. His mural on the top floor of the Palace on Water Street in Pictou was intact until 2024.
