Description
This indenture made the eighteen day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty six between William Harris of the city of Halifax and Province of Nova Scotia merchant of the one part and William McLean of New Glasgow in the county of Pictou and Province aforesaid Farmer of the other part.
Witnesseth that for an in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds of lawful money of the province aforesaid to him the said William Harris in hand well and truly paid by the said William McLean at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said William Harris hath granted bargained sold, aliened, remised, released, enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell, alien, remise, release, enfeoff, unto the said William McLean his heirs and assigns all that certain lot piece or parcel of land situate lying and being on the east side of the east river of Pictou in the County of Pictou aforesaid and to the southward of the town of New Glasgow aforesaid and bounded as follows that is to say situate on Victoria Street so Called beginning at the corner of lot eighty one (81) thence parallel to George Street so called one hundred and twenty feet thence parallel to Victoria Street aforesaid sixty four feet thence parallel to George that aforesaid one hundred and twenty feet thence on Victoria that aforesaid sixty four feet to the place of beginning being lot number twenty one (21) an part and parcel of the farm lot bought by William McDonald from the lot of James Harris Esquire and of sixty lot parcel or parcels of land called town lots according to a surveyed and marked as such upon a plan of the town plot land out by the said William McDonald being an baqument of the town of New Glasgow aforesaid and laid off in the Month of March and in one thousand eight hundred and forty made a parting to be made by William Hath on a seal of fifty feet to one until a copy whereof on a reduced scale of one hundred part to one which taken from the original by Petra Green esquire deputy surveyor is annexed to the deed of covenanted made by said William McDonald to the said William Harris bearing oath the eighth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three and which was duly marked at Pictou aforesaid in left as this 450 reference being had at all being to the said original plan ask the said copy for a mac perfect and full description of the said lot piece or a parcel of land together with all and singular the ways, waters, watercourses, improvements, privileges, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging in any way appertaining and remainder and remainders rents, and profits thereof and also all the estate right, title, interest, property, claim and demand of him the said William Harris of in and upon the said described lot piece or parcel of land and premises with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said described lot parcel or parcel of land and premises with the appurtenances unto him the said William McLean his heirs and assigns forever.
In witnesseth whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto their hands and seals subscribed and set the day and year first before written.

$25.00 Received on the day of the date of the foregoing indenture from William McLean therein named the sum of twenty four pounds bearing the consideration money therein mentioned to be placed by him to me.
